The Tierra Taza or Earth Cup is made by Aidé Ramírez Cedillo, an award-winning Mexican ceramist. She crafts the pieces at her home and studio in the mountainous region of Oaxaca known as the Mixteca.
These cups are handmade in the technique known as barro bruñido, or polished clay. They are made of clay collected in the region and are not glazed. Aidé uses an agate stone to polish each piece before firing, which is how the cups get their shine.
This piece can hold 12oz of fluid, hot or cold.
